Open to graduate students and recent graduate students. The Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) is an agency within the U.S. Department of Energy that funds creative, out-of-the-box, transformational energy technologies that are too early for private investment. ARPA-E programs provide top energy researchers with funding, technical assistance, and tech-to-market guidance to radically improve U.S. energy security, energy efficiency, and environmental well-being. 
Seeking highly motivated applicants for five separate opportunities:
– Research how different types of electric utilities have adopted new technologies in the past and evaluate implications for new technologies coming out of ARPA-E.
– Analysis of markets, technologies and development of an appropriate TEA framework for potential maritime application.
– Analysis of markets, technologies and development of an appropriate TEA framework for a high potential data center and/or edge computing application.
– Research how different types of renewable fuel users have adopted new technologies in the past to evaluate the implications for new technologies coming out of ARPA-E.
– Research AI/ML technical approaches that are being utilized across various sectors, e.g., aerospace, materials development, etc., specifically to accelerate the research and development process. 
Available to U.S. citizens only. Weekly stipend and travel costs provided. Length of stay can be negotiated but typically lasts 8-12 weeks. All selected Scholars will be based at ARPA-E’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.
