Abstract: With a Ph.D. major in Zoology and a minor in Tropical Conservation & Development, Alejandro became the CEO of a non-profit organization that manages an annual budget of $45M and nearly 300 employees. While building a management career in the cultural sector, mostly associated with biodiversity conservation and zoos, Alejandro Grejal followed several principles: 1) Always remain flexible, adaptable, and curious 2) Never abandon my scientific interests 3) Continuously worked on fundraising 4) Bridge disciplines: management, fundraising, conservation and psychology 5) Once I wanted a job, I worked hard to get it. There is a robust job market in the non-profit management sector.
