The Undergraduate Research Program is seeking UW staff members to volunteer for this year’s virtual 24th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium on Friday, May 21, 9 am – 5 pm. Our volunteers are critical to the success of the Symposium. We hope you will consider volunteering and forwarding this announcement on to your colleagues.
Please see below to sign up for volunteer positions and brief descriptions. All positions will require a 30-60 minute pre-event training. Volunteers may sign-up for multiple shifts as long as the times do not conflict.

Volunteer position descriptions
Moderators: The session that you moderate will likely have 5-8 presenters. You will be working with a session assistant to help facilitate the session. You will introduce the presenters in your session. The session assistant will play a presenter’s pre-recorded video and then you will help moderate the two-minute Q&A session after their video. You will be responsible for keeping time during each student’s Q&A session.
Session Assistants: You will serve as the Zoom host for the session and support moderators. You will be sharing your screen and playing pre-recorded presentations from your computer.
Symposium Help Desk Support: Help attendees navigate Symposium. These positions will join a Zoom room and help people who either Zoom in or call in for help on how to find presenters, log into Zoom, etc. Attendees may include family, community members, staff from other institutions as well as UW community.
Symposium Break Room: Break Room Volunteers will help create a welcoming space for presenters, volunteers, and Symposium guests to relax, get to know each other, and network in between sessions. Feel free to sign up for multiple slots!
