Hello Engineering Seniors:

For those of you who are still figuring out your post-graduation plans, you may want to consider the Master’s Degree Program in Materials Science and Engineering. We have students that matriculate into this program from several different backgrounds including chemistry, physics and various engineering fields. Our students are able to develop materials and processing knowledge that leads to careers in many industries.

The application deadline has been extended to June 1. Application instructions, along with a recent Info Session recording are available via Applied Master’s Program Admission. The GRE is not required and we only require one recommendation for UW students.

The program is flexible and can be completed in as little as year. Most students complete a project, research or internship upon graduation, and thesis options are also available.

Students gain experience within the program for careers in a variety of fields including aerospace, biomedicine, electronics, energy, materials processing, etc. Graduates of the program pursue careers in research and development, serve as consultants, engage in entrepreneurial activities, or pursue doctoral studies. A broad selection of courses and faculty mentors enables each student to tailor their academic program and to establish their own desired expertise. We also recently developed a data science track with materials emphasis.

Please email me with any questions, or feel free to schedule a meeting with me to learn more information.

Thank you!
