The Bioengineering Department has open TA and grader positions for several of its 400- and 500-level courses for the 2021-2022 academic year (positions in 200- and 300-level courses are filled). Links to the position descriptions and application forms can be found at the end of this email. TA and grader assignments are being made as qualified candidates are found, so please apply at your earliest convenience.

Graduate TA Positions

These positions are 20 hours/week and typically include a stipend and tuition waiver. Most students who will be enrolled in UW Ph.D. and MS programs (including 2-year MS and BS/MS) are eligible and welcome to apply.  It is recommended that you discuss your plans with your research adviser, because a TAship is a large time commitment, while also providing an alternative funding source.

A list of courses with TA positions descriptions and instructor contact information is available via this link: https://tinyurl.com/45hzxn4w. The TA application form itself may be found via this link: https://forms.gle/gWYzfZPPNb4djFNX7. Note that not all of the courses on the form are available, so please see the detailed list of available positions at the top of the position description document. The application form is set up to allow you to apply for only one position per submission, so to apply for multiple courses you will need to submit multiple applications. This format helps us track the applications, and we appreciate your patience.  We do encourage you to apply for as many positions as match your qualifications and availability. If you are interested in a position but do not have time to confirm your availability or qualifications, go ahead and apply, indicating your uncertainty in the Qualifications field within the application. We will follow up with you as necessary.

Hourly Graduate Grader and Undergraduate TA Positions

These positions average 10 hours/week, are paid by the hour, and do not include a tuition waiver. For each academic quarter, there is one application form and one document containing course and position descriptions. Links are provided at the end of this email and are also cross-referenced in the course descriptions. Note that not all of the courses on the forms are available, so please see the detailed list of available positions at the top of each position description document. The Google forms are set up to select one position per submission, so to apply for multiple courses you will need to submit multiple applications. This format helps us track the applications, and we appreciate your patience.  You are certainly welcome to apply for as many positions as match your qualifications and availability.

Additional notes

  • Positions that are formally offered and accepted will be honored, but until that time the listed positions are tentative and represent the department’s best prediction at this time.
  • When assigning candidates, our first priority is fitness for the position, and instructors have the final say in who will assist with their courses. There is no set limit on the number of times a student may be a grader or TA.
