Research Opportunities
- To find research opportunities, search our database. Below we highlight two recent postings!
- The Svoboda Diaries project is recruiting multiple undergraduate researchers to intern for their project. “The Svoboda Diaries Project (SDP) project is a digital collection comprised of personal diaries that capture over 40 years of trade, life, and politics along the landscape of the Tigris River in late 19th/early 20th century Ottoman Iraq, through the perspective of a British steamship purser with a rich family history and local connections. This project is a digital humanities effort through the University of Washington Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilization.”
- The Department of Metabolism, Endocrinology, and Nutrition is seeking a student to assist a postdoctoral scientist on a project about the immune system of the brain and its role in diabetes and obesity.
Conferences & Publications
- The National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) is now accepting abstracts for their 2022 virtual conference on April 4-8. The early bird abstract deadline is 10/20/21 and the regular abstract deadline is 11/19/21.
- Call for submissions to University of North Carolina Chapel Hill’s undergraduate journal of Middle East Studies, Juhood Magazine in English or Arabic. Find out more information here and submit by 10/01/21.
Scholarships, Research Funding, and Awards
- Apply now for a URP Conference Travel Award enabling you to attend a professional conference. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
- Apply in Autumn or Winter Quarter for the Mary Gates Research Scholarship. This scholarship intends to enhance research experiences for individuals currently engaged in research guided by faculty in social sciences, arts, and humanities. The scholarship amount is $5,000 USD ($2,500 per quarter for two quarters).
Professional Development and Leadership Opportunities
- Jumpstart is hiring for 2021-2022 for over 40 federal work-study and AmeriCorps member positions. They are especially interested in applicants who are strong leaders with early education/childcare experience who can serve as team leaders, student equity officers, and volunteer coordinators.
- Free panel discussion about misconceptions of graduate school in STEM hosted by Student Services, 09/30/21 5:30 pm-7 pm PST on Zoom. Students can submit questions ahead of time here.
