Hi Dr. Klavins,

My name is Rachel Figard, and I am a Ph.D. student in the Engineering Education Systems and Design program at Arizona State University. I am contacting you for assistance in distributing a research survey to students in your department. Currently, I am conducting a research study to examine engineering students with disabilities’ experiences in online learning. The results of this study will help pinpoint future online accessibility improvements and considerations needed to advance accessibility standards.

Participation in this study consists of an online survey via Qualtrics which takes around 10 minutes to complete. Respondents to the survey must be 18 years or older, a current engineering student, and a student who identifies as having one or more disabilities (whether diagnosed or not). Examples of disabilities include: mental (ADHD, Anxiety, Autism, etc.) and physical (Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, hearing or visual impairments, etc.). Participation in this study is completely voluntary and anonymous. Institutional Review Board approval was granted by Arizona State University to conduct this study in this setting (STUDY00015511).

This survey will be open until 4/1. To access the survey, please click the link here (https://asu.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3sk6UFs6IjA5DIG). Upon completion of the survey, participants will be entered into a prize pool for the chance to win 1 of 5 $20 gift cards to their choice of store (Amazon, Target, or Walmart).  The drawings for the winners will occur during the last week of April and winners will be contacted directly to collect their compensation.

If you have any questions concerning the research study, please email me at: rfigard@asu.edu.

Thank you in advance for your time and help with this important research project,

Rachel Figard
