The GSEE Foundry 10 Summer Support Fund is a one-time award to provide financial assistance over summer quarter(s) to UW underrepresented doctoral students who have a demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ). GSEE appreciates our community alumni who have helped make this award possible.
The Foundry 10 Summer Support Fund award is a one-time award of $2,500 -$5,200 that can be used to aid doctoral students’ project engagement, research, or studies during Summer Quarter 2022.
Eligibility
- Underrepresented doctoral candidates planning to defend during academic year 2022-23 that do not have summer funding
- Underrepresented doctoral candidates actively working on a project, research, dissertation, or defense planning during summer 2022
- Underrepresented doctoral candidates enrolled at the University of Washington for Summer 2022 and/or Autumn 2022
- Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice
Application
To be considered for this fellowship, ALL of the following materials must be submitted via the MyGrad Program (Request a Graduate School award).
- Personal Statement (not to exceed 2 pages, double-spaced, 12-pt font). Statement should address the following:

- How you are working to bring DEIJ principles to your field through your service, research, and/or paid employment.
- Your personal and professional goals and the ways in which your graduate education will enable you to sustain your relationship with underrepresented communities.
- Describe the project, research, dissertation, or defense that you will be working to complete during summer 2022.
- How this award would impact your graduate education and summer quarter(s).
- Resume or Abbreviated Curriculum Vitae (not to exceed 2 pages)
