Jessica Kuong, Ph.D.

Research Scientist II, Amazon

Seattle, WA

Dr. Kuong started her Seattle journey as a postdoctoral researcher in the lab of Dr. Lawrence Loeb. At UW, she worked on an ultra-accurate Next Generation Sequencing method and developed a keen interest in NGS advancement. At Adaptive Biotechnologies, she focused on troubleshooting problems faced by Adaptive’s production, operations, validation, extraction, sample collection, and assay development teams for their highly multiplexed NGS products in immune-receptor sequencing. At Amazon, her team developed a 40k sample per run COVID testing solution with end-to-end processes validated for pilot production to help Amazon protect their 1.5 million+ staff. She has also taught at several community colleges in the Seattle area and is well versed in alternative career paths for PhDs and postdocs.

Grace Huynh, Ph.D., MD

Principal Researcher, Microsoft Research

Redmond, WA

Grace Huynh is a Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research. Her research interests include biomedical machine learning for precision medicine and drug discovery. Dr. Huynh has also worked on computational models to support infectious disease modeling and public health decision-making, with a focus on TB and COVID-19.

Maher Khelifi, PharmD, Ph.D.

Senior UX Researcher, ServiceNow

Kirkland, WA

Maher Khelifi graduated from the school of Pharmacy of Monastir, Tunisia in 2012. In 2013, he joined the School of Medicine at the University of Washington where he obtained a Master’s Degree and a PhD in Biomedical and Health Informatics. Dr. Khelifi specialized in conducting foundational research to design AI-powered technologies. He ran user research studies exploring the use of AI agents and conversational recommenders at Microsoft AI Research and Google AI Research. Currently, Dr. Khelifi is a Senior User Researcher at ServiceNow exploring the design of MLOps technologies.
