Spring 2023: EE 559 Special Topics in Electrical Energy System

Did you know that 40 million Americans use more energy than 700 million Africans? Ending energy poverty and energy inequity is crucial to meeting all the major global development goals.
This course will explore the challenge of energy poverty in various parts of the world, as well as the relationship between current and future energy needs and achieving the global goals for sustainable development (SDGs).
Students will be exposed to cutting-edge research in energy, sustainability, and development through journal papers, in-class debates, and guest lectures. The course will culminate in a written group-based review paper.
Target Audience: This is a research-oriented course intended for graduate and senior undergraduate students interested in learning more about the intersection of energy, development, and global systems.
