UW ECE is piloting an ECE DEI Conference Travel Award to help subsidize the costs of students attending conferences that support and further DEI initiatives.

  1. First, you must be a currently enrolled ECE student at the time of application and over the duration of the proposed conference dates.
  2. These awards are meant to be reviewed and awarded before the start of the conference.
  3. Identify a conference that will enhance your investment in or knowledge of diversity, equity and including in Engineering.
  4. Do your research! You should know the cost of the conference (registration, travel, etc.), what workshops are being offered, who may be there, etc.
  5. Submit the application form for funding (found at the bottom of the website link above).
  6. Award recipients will be notified 2-4 weeks after receiving the application.  We recommend submitting at least a few months ahead of the conference date.
  7. If awarded funds, you will be sent details on how to obtain your funds for reimbursement of expenses.
  8.  In addition, within two weeks after the conference you will need to submit a short 250-500 word report describing your experience at the conference, who you met, what you learned, and specifically how your attendance increased your investment in or enhanced your understanding of diversity, equity or including in Engineering. Photos from the conference are appreciated.
