Application for WA NASA Space Grant “studentships” for transfer students in STEM from Washington State community colleges to any of the three UW campuses is open until August 7! More information and application

Studentships range from $2,000 to $5,000 and are awarded for one year at a time. Recipients may apply for renewal for an additional year, depending on availability of funding and providing that they maintain program requirements for their majors and a satisfactory GPA.

Washington NASA Space Grant Community College Transfer Studentships are awarded to promising community college students planning to transfer to the University of Washington to continue their studies in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.

These competitive studentships are based on academic achievement, personal essays, and future academic promise.

Applications are open to community college transfer students who will be entering the University of Washington in the fall quarter of 2023. Community college transfer students who entered UW in the winter or spring quarter of 2023 are also eligible to apply.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, scholarship applicants must:

  • Be a resident of Washington state
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.3
  • Have applied to transfer to UW in the fall quarter of 2023 or transferred into UW in either winter or spring quarter of 2023
  • Be pursuing an undergraduate degree in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM)

Only students majoring in the fields of science, technology, engineering, or mathematics are eligible for support. This does not include health majors such as medical technology and nursing.

Washington NASA Space Grant Consortium values diversity. We especially encourage students to apply if they are from communities historically excluded from STEM — students with traditionally marginalized genders, BIPOC, students with disabilities, and students from rural communities.
