This Internship is an opportunity to work with CoMotion Physical Sciences Innovation Managers and other Innovation Development staff to create Non-Confidential Summaries (NCS) of our available technologies to license. As a CoMotion Intern, you will have an outstanding educational opportunity to learn about the commercialization process of technologies from the University of Washington. This program will enable you to gain an in-depth understanding of technology transfer and expose you to the greater UW innovation ecosystem.
Your work project of writing Non-Confidential Summaries of available Physical Sciences technologies will be composed of:
- Understanding the Problem (Unmet Need)
- Understanding the Solution (The Technology)
- Competitive Analysis (What Differentiates It from Other Solutions Available Today?)
- Patent Information
Selection Criteria:
- Degree – MS, PhD, currently in a graduate program, or equivalent experience. PhD students strongly preferred. If currently in a research based graduate program, consent of Supervisor is also required.
- Areas of Study – Physical Sciences, such as Physics, Engineering, Chemistry, etc.
- Strong scientific/technical background, gained formally or informally, with the ability to understand and communicate scientific and technical concepts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Enthusiasm and willingness to tackle new challenges
- Must be available to work for at least 6 months. Appointments can be extended based on performance and mutual agreement.
- Commitment and availability to work up to 10 hours per week
