Open to all graduate students across tri-campus. Are you a graduate student who wants to communicate your capstone, research, or teaching pedagogy to a wider audience in a clear, accessible manner? Maybe you’re wanting to try out exciting presentation material in preparation for a big conference, an industry networking pitch, or a job talk? Or do you just want to feel less nervous about public speaking? Submit a proposal for Virtual Scholars’ Studio! Presenters will have five minutes to talk about their master’s or doctoral projects without using a lot of technical or academic jargon. They’ll also get generative feedback from a supportive, general UW audience.
Participate for the following reasons:
- To have fun communicating your research!
- To focus on the main takeaways of your master’s or doctoral project
- To practice communicating your work to a general audience
- To build skills that are important for virtual conference presentations and job talks
- To learn how to enliven your presentation with storytelling elements
This event is a partnership between the UW Libraries Research Commons and Graduate Student Affairs in The Graduate School.
