We’re one week away! The Office of Graduate Student Equity & Excellence (GSEE, formerly GO-MAP) is hosting a virtual New Student Welcome next Wednesday, July 31st from 1:30-3:00pm PDT via Zoom.
The Office of Graduate Student Equity & Excellence, (GSEE, formerly GO-MAP), is thrilled to welcome our incoming historically underrepresented graduate students to the UW!
It can be incredibly challenging to move to a new city/region/country to attend graduate school. We also recognize how jarring it can be to return to life as an academic after many years in the workforce. Know that GSEE is here for you to help you in fostering community and a sense of belonging as you begin your journey in graduate school!
Join us via ZOOM for a virtual meet & greet for incoming master’s, Ph.D., and professional students. We will be hosting a student panel, as well as breakout rooms, to exchange tips and tricks on transitioning to the UW (past topics have included: QTPOC Community, Student Activism/Advocacy, Parenting while in Graduate School, Finding a Roommate, and Free Chat. Join us to see what topics emerge this year!).
Please also note that this virtual New Student Welcome is different from our signature fall quarter in-person event, Getting Connected. GSEE’s New Student Welcome is geared towards new/incoming graduate students to aid in their successful transition to life at the UW. During fall quarter, GSEE hosts Getting Connected as a space for all GSEE students to gather in community, making new connections and/or rekindling older ones.
We’re looking forward to seeing your incoming students virtually, soon!
Best,
The GSEE Team
