Considering applying to a graduate fellowship in engineering such as the National Science Foundation GRFP this fall? If yes, we will take you through writing a great application with your engineering peers, focusing specifically on the NSF GRFP application.

What is the National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP)?

It’s a fellowship that provides tuition and stipends for up to three years of graduate work. It can help you by reducing the need to procure other funding or sustain teaching loads, allowing you to focus on your research, collaborations, outreach, and education. More information about the fellowship and eligibility is available here: http://www.nsfgrfp.org/. This year’s deadline for NSF GRFP in engineering is October 17th, 2024.

Why a peer workshop?

The GRFP can be a challenging and time-consuming application, even for students who might have a strong support network. Our workshop pairs applicants with peers and mentors to learn together and help each other put forward strong applications, making the process easier, and more fun.

What will the free workshop include?

It will consist of two virtual sessions, followed by four in-person sessions in September and October at the Paul G. Allen Center ECE building (Room: TBD). The first session starts on Sep 9th. Each session will include short lectures and panels by researchers with fellowship experience, followed by small group co-working, application mentorship, and feedback. Check the syllabus and schedule to help you assess if this workshop is a good fit, or you may also contact us with questions.
