January 22, 2025
The ECE TA and Grader applications are now open. The deadline to apply is February, 4th by 11:59pm.
Both the TA and Grader applications can be found on the ECE TA website homepage https://wp.ece.uw.edu/eceta/
You must use your UW Net ID to log in to the applications.
TA application: Please DO NOT APPLY if you do not meet TA eligibility criteria in policy 5.2 (this pertains to International students).
PhD students, if you are unsure about your funding, please submit an application. You can always withdraw your application later if alternative funding comes through.
Grader application: Grader positions do not include a tuition waiver and are paid hourly. PhD students should not apply for Grader positions due to the guaranteed funding model.
Additional Information:
- PhD students are given first priority for TA positions. It may take up to a month to assign these positions. Please be patient.
- To broaden opportunities, Masters and Undergrad students should reach out to other departments where they have relevant skills and knowledge. Inquire in these departments.
- Your resume should have a skills section (Java, Python, CUDA, OpenCL, GPU, Verilog, etc). Include all duties related to teaching, mentoring, tutoring, project leadership, etc.
- Find Spring 2025 PMP classes here (under EE and EEP). These are harder to match and increase your chances if you have the skills to TA these classes.
- Find Spring 2025 Daytime classes here.
- Syllabi for Daytime undergraduate classes are available in the Master Course Description section at this link – Course Descriptions – UWECE.
- Refer to the list of courses that *might* receive TA positions based on previous enrollment patterns – here. It is not exhaustive; compare with the Spring 2025 Time Schedule.
- We will not manage assignments for the following classes so please do not list them:
-
- EE 371 (joint with CSE). CSE is managing TAs
- EE 424/524 (joint with BioE, Chem E, CSE, ). BioE is managing TAs
- EE 470 (joint with CSE). CSE is managing TAs
- EE 475/542 (joint with CSE). CSE is managing TAs
- EE 548 (joint with AA, ME). AA is managing TAs
- EE 549 (joint with AA, ME). AA is managing TAs
- List the maximum number of classes you can confidently TA. Use the notes section on the TA application to add additional classes.
- NEW!! Any class you list with a lab, you need to confirm on the application that you are available to TA at that lab time or times (second to last question). If there are several labs, you need to cover at least two of the labs if the class is assigned a TA.
- Access past workshop/class/TA information and resources here – https://wp.ece.uw.edu/eceta/resources/.
- A final reminder, even if a professor recommends you, there is no guarantee of receiving a TA or grader position. Masters and Undergraduate students should not expect to rely on a recommendation and explore other funding options. Check Handshake and contact other relevant departments.
