Dear ECE Graduate Students,
We’re now accepting nominations for the Marsha Landolt Distinguished Graduate Mentor Award, which honors faculty who demonstrate outstanding commitment to mentoring graduate students.
____________________________________________________________________________
If you know a faculty member who deserves recognition, please nominate them using the form below:
Eligibility: Nominees must be active members of the graduate faculty involved in graduate student supervision.
Deadline: Monday, October 6, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (PT)
To complete the nomination form, you’ll need:
- Names/emails of at least 1 current and 1 former grad student committed to writing support letters
- A brief statement showing how your nominee meets the [evaluation criteria]
Only one nomination will be submitted from ECE to the Graduate School. The department will select our final nominee from the submitted entries.
____________________________________________________________________________
If your nominee is selected, we’ll reach out to work with you on assembling the full nomination packet, including:
- *Letter of support from the department chair or their designee (maximum of two pages). Note: Department chairs are invited to incorporate comments from those nomination letters they have received from current or former students or colleagues that are not part of the final packet of materials.
- Nomination letters from current graduate students (up to three letters, each no longer than one page). Note: Due to the cap on the number of letters that can be included in the nomination file, departments are encouraged to include letters that are “team-written”.
- Nomination letters from former graduate students (up to four letters, each no longer than one page).
- Nomination letters from other students (e.g., undergraduates or postdoctoral associates), faculty or staff (up to two letters, each no longer than one page).
- *Current, abbreviated version of the nominee’s CV (maximum of six pages).
- *List of current and former mentored graduate students directly supervised. Use this format. We suggest that departments list all students who have received substantial supervision, regardless of whether the nominee was the committee chair.
- Other supporting materials as desired (e.g., course syllabi, student evaluations) but excluding any additional nomination letters (maximum of four pages).
*= required
No need to gather these materials now — just be ready to prepare them if your nominee is selected. If your nominee is selected, you’ll have two weeks to gather all required materials so we recommend having a plan in place ahead of time.
Thank you for helping us recognize and celebrate outstanding mentorship in our department!
