October 24, 2025
This email is directed to anyone who is planning to register for the Engineering Entrepreneurial Capstone (ENGINE) (EE 598) in Winter and Spring 2026. UW ECE’s Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship (ENGINE) capstone program (EE 598) develops students’ skills in collaborative systems engineering and project management, while supporting a thriving culture of innovation at the UW and within the local community through industry partnerships and student mentorship.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- The ENGINE capstone consists of EE 598 (4 credits) in the winter quarter and EE 598 (4 credits) in the spring quarter. You are required to enroll in EE 598 during both the winter and spring quarters. If you do not register for EE 598 in the spring, you will not receive credit for the course in the winter.
- More information on the ENGINE capstone can be found on the ECE Graduate Programs Advising Resources canvas page.
PITCH DAY:
Please save the date for the Engineering Entrepreneurial Capstone (ENGINE) Pitch Day on Wednesday, November 12th, from 5 – 7:00 pm in the Oak Hall Denny Room. Full event details will be shared soon.
We encourage you to attend Pitch Day to learn about the industry-sponsored projects available for this year’s ENGINE capstone.
REGISTRATION AND PROJECT RANKING:
- During ENGINE Pitch Day, you will have the opportunity to review the available projects that can be chosen.
- After Pitch Day, you will submit your project ranking requests by filling out the College of Engineering Project Ranking application online. As you consider project options, please note that while you may have preferences, there is no guarantee of being placed in your top choices.
- You have until November 23rd to register for EE 598 and complete the project ranking form (which will be sent after Pitch Day).
DROP-CODES:
Starting November 24th at 9:00 am, drop codes will be required for students to drop EE 598 from their Winter quarter registration. To receive a code to drop EE 598, you will need to meet with ECE grad advising during an appointment or during graduate advising drop-ins.
- To avoid the need for a drop code, we encourage you to carefully consider the two-quarter commitment you are making to your capstone team, industry sponsor, and UW faculty and staff by registering for EE 598.
Please contact grad@ece.uw.edu with any questions about dates and deadlines or registration and Professor Arabshahi (paymana@uw.edu) if you have questions on the ENGINE program.
