Description: This graded, three-credit course focuses on introducing graduate students to the literature in discipline-based education research on
undergraduate STEM courses. We pay special attention to making STEM education accessible and joyous to students who historically have not thrived
in these contexts. The course is housed in the Biology department, but the methods are applicable across STEM disciplines. Graduate students from across
campus have found this class useful and fulfilling. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to communicate their approach to designing an
evidence-based course in their specific area of STEM expertise.
Audience: This course is intended for PhD students or postdocs who want to make undergraduate teaching an important part of their career and who are
new to the literature on evidence-based teaching.
