Grad School: Three Minute Thesis competition Info Session – 3/16, 5:00 p.m.

Are you a UW graduate student in the final stages of your capstone, thesis, or dissertation project? Want to present your exciting project for a chance to win cash prizes? Apply to compete in the  2026 UW Three Minute Thesis  (UW 3MT®). 3MT®  is a professional development event that supports graduate students’ capacity to effectively explain their research or capstone project in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a public audience. The competition is open to all eligible graduate students from across the UW tri-campus. 

• March 16, 2026, 5 – 6 p.m. (PT): Online information session / Sign up 
• March 20, 2026, 11:59 p.m. (PT): Proposals due 
• April 22, 2026, 1 – 3:30 p.m. (PT): Virtual preliminary round  
• May 21, 2026, 4 – 6 p.m.: Selected presenters compete in-person, Seattle campus 

PRIZES
Prizes for the May 21 event are sponsored by The Graduate School:

• First Place: $1,000 
• Runner Up: $500 
• People’s Choice: $500
