Inspire Empathy, Collaboration, and Humility. Become a How Huskies Heal Student Contributor!

Winner of the 2020-2021 Husky Seed Fund AwardHow Huskies Heal will be a published anthology of interviews with members of the UW community that discuss the subjectivity of healing. Our goal is to highlight the importance of learning from one another through individual conversations and illustrate to future healthcare providers that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing.

We hope How Huskies Heal will feature undergraduate and graduate students across diverse backgrounds, experiences, and fields of study. The Student Contributor opportunity involves completing a remote, short-form interview with a member of the project’s Interview Team—UW students studying medicine, nursing, social work, or healthcare administration—and submitting your photograph(s) to be featured alongside your interview content in the final publication. As an additional incentive, Student Contributors will be entered into a drawing to win one of many Amazon gift cards!

This sounds like something I’m interested in. How do I know if I’m fit for the role?

Has your background and/or life experiences shaped how you view your health and how you approach healing, wellbeing, stress, or illness? Do you have thoughts on healing that you feel would be beneficial for the UW community and healthcare professionals to know? Are you interested in inspiring patient-centered, collaborative care through your narrative? If you answered ‘yes’ to any of these questions, we want to hear from you!

In order to become a How Huskies Heal Student Contributor, you must:

  • Submit a UW Release Form
  • Be available for a 30-45 minute remote interview to be scheduled with you at your convenience. Interviews will begin September 1st and take place throughout the Fall Quarter.
  • Fill out the Student Contributor application. The priority Summer deadline is Friday, August 28th at 11:59 PM. However, the application will remain open throughout the Fall Quarter, and Student Contributors will be accepted on a rolling basis.

Please refer to the attached flyer for information on application requirements, the project timeline, and what you can expect as a Student Contributor.

If you have any questions about the project and/or application, please email howhuskiesheal@uw.edu.
