A quick intro to PDT, we are a team of 200 professionals in a quantitative investment firm based in midtown, New York. Our researchers all come from academia in disciplines such as Physics, Math, Statistics and Economics. We’ve had 26 years of success and at a high retention rate, we fostered a great team of researchers in an academically driven and collaborative culture.

I appreciate any help you can give and thank you in advance!

Event description:

Curious what it means to be a Quantitative Researcher at PDT Partners? Join our moderated discussion with PDT researchers to learn about their journey to quantitative finance from academia. They will discuss their career path, the interesting work that challenges them and their decision to come to the quantitative finance industry. Learn how a team of scientists, mathematicians and engineers with PhDs in Physics, Computer Science, Statistics, Math and Electrical Engineering develop trading strategies using uniquely scientifically rigorous approaches in an open and collaborative culture.

We will discuss how PDT and quantitative research compares to other industries, our academic research culture and how researchers use the skills from their graduate program to tackle interesting and challenging problems. This will be an interactive discussion and you will hear directly from PDTers!

Here are the PDT researchers on our panel:

Seth
Seth received his PhD in Statistics from Stanford with a specialization in variance reduction techniques in MCMC estimation. Additionally, Seth has undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Art History from Rice.

Kurt
Kurt received his PhD in Computer Science with a focus on machine learning from UC Berkeley before joining PDT as a quantitative researcher in 2011. Kurt was also an adjunct at the NYU Center for Data Science for five years starting in 2014.
