Engineering undergrads, APPLY NOW to make a difference in the lives of first-year engineering students!

The College of Engineering’s Engineering Peer Educator (EPE) program is a fantastic opportunity for current engineering undergraduates to gain valuable leadership experience while helping the 2021 incoming class of Engineering Undeclared students succeed in transitioning to college! EPEs mentor and support first-year students by facilitating the GEN ST 199 component of Engineering FIGs in Autumn 2021. Undergraduate students with skills in collaboration and interpersonal communication who are passionate about giving back to the engineering community are encouraged to apply!

Students who are selected to participate in the program will gain:

  • Concrete leadership, public speaking, and communication skills that will strengthen their resume;
  • $1,000 scholarship;
  • ENGR 498 credits to formalize their leadership experience.

Applications are due by Tuesday, January 19th

A former EPE is offering drop-in hours to answer any questions you have about the role and program this Friday, 1/15 at 4pm PT over Zoom.

Current EPE Lily Vu says: “I’ve gained so much from my experience as an EPE. First, I’ve developed an amazing connection with all of my students and it has been so fun teaching the GEN ST 199 class weekly and supporting my students in their engineering major exploration process and transition to UW. Second, I’ve really enjoyed getting to know all the other EPEs and the engineering advisers through this program. The entire EPE team is super supportive and welcoming and there is just so much to learn from everyone! Lastly, I’ve gained so many personal and professional skills. I’ve gained more confidence in public speaking and leadership overall, and I’ve really improved my communication, time management, and organization skills. If you’re someone who is passionate about leadership, mentorship, and networking, I highly recommend applying to be an EPE! It’s a really rewarding position and you won’t regret it!”

Read more about the program here and submit an application soon! You’re welcome to reach out to engradv@uw.edu if you have questions or if you encounter any issues accessing the application form.

We hope you consider this great opportunity to give back to the engineering community!

Warmly,

Engineering Advising & Student Engagement Team
