In honor of National Engineers Week (02/21 – 27) and Women’s History Month (March), UW’s College of Engineering has funded a virtual screening of the 2020 documentary, “Picture a Scientist,” which tells stories from women “who provide new perspectives on how to make science itself more diverse, equitable, and open to all.” Each female Engineering student, faculty, and staff member is invited to two activities related to this:
- Watch “Picture a Scientist” during a 72-hour viewing period (noon, Mon 02/22 – noon, Thu 02/25)
- Attend the “Celebrating All Females in Engineering” (CAFÉ) networking panel & discussion about being a woman in STEM from 4:30 – 6:30pm on Thursday 02/25. Women from a diverse set of companies & industries will discuss the issues unique to their careers in those fields, as well as general topics such as going to graduate school, and leading with resilience.
More information will be coming about the specifics for viewing the documentary & participating in the CAFÉ event.
We encourage you to visit the “Picture a Scientist” Website to view the trailer & the biographies of those featured in the film. If you have any questions, please reach out to UW WISE (uwwise@uw.edu).
