College of Engineering Advancement Student Worker
Pay: $16.69/hour
Hours: 8-10 hours/week, flexible schedule available.
Please note: this position will be remote until September 2021.
The College of Engineering has an outstanding opportunity for a highly qualified student who is ready to work in a
fast-paced professional setting. This position assists the COE Advancement team in a variety of administrative
tasks related to marketing, communications and development efforts. Students will gain organizational skills as
well as learn about the workings of one of the largest units on campus. Duties include but are not limited to:
Marketing and communications
- Transcribing and organizing media clips for the COE website and promotional videos.
- Updating and designing COE marketing visual collateral (templates, graphics, logos, etc.)
- Editing, uploading and organizing digital photos.
- Updating COE and departmental events calendars online.
- Web research for content and peer benchmarking.
Events
- Assisting Special Events Manager and Associate Director of Events with event planning and execution:
including setup and breakdown of event signage, staffing the registration table and alphabetizing
nametags.
- Assisting with design and production of event collateral (marketing pieces, nametags, place cards, event
signage).
- Providing day-of-event support at signature events like Diamond Awards, Scholar Donor Luncheon and
Discovery Days.
Office administration
- Maintaining confidential donor database and attending trainings as needed.
- Entering contact reports, following events or as directed by the ADA team.
- Performing general office tasks including data entry, filing, copying, and organizing office materials.
- Formatting, proofreading and editing letters.
- Assisting with large mailings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Desired skills:
- Experience with Excel, Powerpoint, Microsoft Publisher and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong written and verbal skills.
- Able to self-manage, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Outstanding customer service skills with strong attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality.
- Able to work outside of regularly scheduled work hours on event days.
- Interest in fundraising and events.
