The Microsoft Research Special Projects team is focused on identifying and rapidly developing new, ambitious incubations based on breakthrough science and engineering.  We are a growing team of talented researchers, engineers, and program managers with a wide variety of backgrounds, identities, work histories, and life experiences. We are seeking a principal architect with product experience to join our team and help us accelerate a diverse portfolio of projects.

The role has scope for broad impact, but will require strong collaboration capability, and ability to influence across organizational lines. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a demonstrated track record of providing technology vision and driving them through. The candidate would play a key role in helping the leadership team with technical strategy as well as guide technology investments in highly ambiguous and exploratory areas. The candidate will work with team leaders to build an end-end product architecture and drive consistency and simplifications to our incubation workflows. The candidate will not shy away from diving into individual problem areas and will guide the engineering team by making recommendations and best approaches. This candidate will directly report to the General Manager.

An ideal candidate would also bring:

  • MS/PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering …. (see listing for more details)
