Nano Optoelectronic Integrated System Engineering (NOISE) lab is looking for an MS student who will be working on modeling thermoelectric integrated nanophotonic resonators. Thermal
control of integrated nano-resonators is one of the main mechanisms to stabilize optical resonators in a large-scale photonic integrated circuit (PIC). While we can easily heat up the
resonator by using a local resonator, there is no clear mechanism to cool them down. The project aims to explore how thermo-electric materials can be integrated with silicon PIC and model the
hybrid system using COMSOL and analytical methods. The MS student will be responsible for modeling and exploring the possible fabrication route. This project can be part of a thesis and
potentially can lead to a funded RA position. If interested please email your CV and unofficial transcript to arka@uw.edu.
