Role Description
The Applied Physics Laboratory’s Information Technology Group (APLUW-ITG) has an opening(s) for student helpdesk positions to provide Tier 1 computer support.
About the organization:
APLUW-ITG serves (a) nine subnets in six buildings; (b) Macs, PC, and Unix/Linux Workstations on different subnets; (c) a set of Linux machines that provide network, mail, print and compute services; (d) a Help Desk to assist about 400 users with their networking and computing needs.
About the Position:
The student we will be hiring will be responsible for answering user questions, on-boarding/off-boarding computers on networks, maintaining printers and documentation and other computer-related items, such as, installing hardware and software. Schedules will be based on your current class schedule/availability and be scheduled between 8AM-5PM Monday through Friday and not exceed 19.5hrs a week.
Requirements:
The student we are looking to hire must be computer literate and have intermediate PC/Mac experience. Linux experience is a plus. The students we hire must also have good oral and written communication skills. The position is open to Undergraduate Students Only. This position involves grants and contracts that require employees be US Citizens.
