The Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation, is contacting you about paid opportunities currently available to students as we search for highly motivated future leaders.

Established by Congress in 2000, NNSA is a semi-autonomous agency within the Department of Energy responsible for enhancing national security through the military application of nuclear science. NNSA maintains and enhances the safety, security, and effectiveness of the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile; works to reduce the global danger from weapons of mass destruction; provides the U.S. Navy with safe and militarily effective nuclear propulsion; and responds to nuclear and radiological emergencies in the United States and abroad.

The NNSA Graduate Fellowship Program (NGFP) is a 1-year, early-career, leadership program with assignments across the NNSA enterprise. Attached is the brochure for the program, and additional information can be found on the links below. (MSIIP Recruitment Flyer 2024-2025 NGFP Class of 2024 – Flyer)

The NNSA Minority Serving Institutions Internship Program (NNSA-MSIIP) is an opportunity for both undergraduate and graduate students enrolled at Minority Serving Institutions to participate in a summer or year-long internship with the NNSA, national laboratories, and site offices (see attached flyer). All students are welcome to join our upcoming informational sessions – dates and times can be found on the NNSA-MSIIP website (see the link below).

Candidates from all areas of study are welcome to apply no background in nuclear or national security is needed.

Thank you for taking the time to consider sharing these opportunities with your students.  If you have any questions, please refer to the attachments and links below.

All the best,

Jeffrey Rivas
