  • Apply: College and Career Readiness Assistants 

Intern as a College and Career Readiness Assistant (CCRA) and work directly with local middle and/or high school students to support post-secondary preparation & planning!  This is an academic year long paid internship.   • Apply:  Riverways Alternative Spring Break 2024 

Want to do something amazing with your spring break? Participate in Alternative Spring Break (ASB) 2024! Riverways Education Partnerships has an opportunity for UW students to facilitate learning with K-12 students in rural and tribal communities across Washington over Spring Break.  STEM ASB focuses on running coding, engineering, and earth science outreach programming, and Literacy Arts ASB focuses on creative story-telling projects.  These opportunities also involve participating in a seminar winter quarter to prepare prior to the week of teaching.  Application deadline: November 30.  Visit our website to learn more and apply.

Through the Husky Leadership Certificate (HLC), students identify, articulate and demonstrate their leadership learning, growth and accomplishments. Students create a leadership e-portfolio and are matched with their own mentor who helps them reflect upon and give voice to their leadership development. We are seeking Huskies who practice leadership in a variety of ways.   Register: CELE K-12 Tutors and Mentors for Winter 2024  

Passionate about educational equity and interested in gaining experience working with K-12 students from diverse backgrounds?  Tutoring and mentoring are rewarding experiences and a great way to engage with the local community.  Enroll in EDUC 260 and 401 A/B this Winter quarter to learn about K-12 educational equity issues while tutoring in a K-12 Seattle Public School classroom. Enroll during the Winter 2024 course registration period. Visit our website to learn more.  

  • Explore: NextGen Civic Leader Corps  

The UW NextGen Civic Leader Corps aims to spark, hone and recognize a deeper commitment to public and community service for undergraduate students. ​This is a great opportunity to meet other Huskies and students across the country who are interested in public service as well as explore government, non-profit and social venture careers. We offer advising, programming, networking opportunities and exclusive access to scholarship dollars to socially engaged, community-rooted leaders with the aim to empower and equip the next generation of public service leaders. Students can get plugged into the NextGen community by filling out our Interest Form and visiting our website.  

  • Apply: Undergraduate Community-based Internships (UCBI)

UCBI is a paid internship program that places undergraduates in nonprofit and public sector organizations. Students interested in public service get the chance to explore, contribute, and grow as they work in, with, and for local communities.   • Apply: Work-Study Tutors (America Reads) 

Work-Study Tutors is a program where UW students tutor weekly at target schools in Seattle. Tutors focus on reading and math skills with elementary, middle and early high school students and build strong relationships with youth by making a commitment to their tutoring site for at least two quarters of the academic year. Tutors support the Seattle Public Schools’ effort to promote educational equity for all students, with a focus on under-resourced schools. Tutors must be work-study eligible. Applications for a Fall Quarter start are closed, but applications are still being accepted for a Winter quarter start until December 1. Visit our website to learn more and apply.
