November 6, 2023

Hello ECE student community,

We are now accepting applications for both TA and Grader positions for Winter 2024.

 TA Application Link: https://forms.office.com/r/wqpFDzN4NY

Grader Application Link: https://forms.office.com/r/8hHyxdDcbQ

You may apply for a TA position, a Grader position or both.

Note: Grader positions do not come with a tuition waiver and are paid hourly. PhD students should not apply for a Grader position as PhD students are on a guaranteed funding model.

The deadline to apply is Friday, November 17th by 5pm.

 A few reminders:

  •  You must use your UW NetID to log into the forms.
  •  International students are required to meet policy 5.2 criteria to be eligible to TA. If you do not meet this eligibility, you will not be considered. Steps on how to meet eligibility are outlined in policy 5.2.
  •  A resume is required. Please have a section where you list ALL skills (Java, Python, CUDA, OpenCL, GPU,  Verilog, etc). The rest of your resume should reflect all duties related to teaching, mentoring, tutoring or project leadership, etc.
  •  If you are interested in EE 393, please provide a writing sample. Your essay on an application to your program or a course paper are examples you can use.
  •  The Winter 2024 PMP classes can be found at https://peden.ece.uw.edu/pmp/pmp-course-history/. PMP classes can be difficult to match so if you are interested and have the skill sets needed, please list them as your chances are greater.
  •  The Winter 2024 Daytime classes can be found at https://www.washington.edu/students/timeschd/WIN2024/ee.html.
  • Syllabus for Daytime undergraduate classes can be found at Course Descriptions – UWECE. Click on the Master Course Description link.
  • The TA website managed by our Lead TA, Sushree Jena will be updated for Winter 2024. It has past workshop information and class supporting resources – https://wp.ece.uw.edu/eceta/resources/.
  • PhD students are first priority and will take weeks to assign. Masters and Undergrads are generally not considered until 99% of our PhD’s are place so please be patient.
  • To broaden opportunities, Masters and Undergrads should reach out to other departments in which they have the skills and knowledge to inquire about TA positions and processes.
  • You have a higher chance of finding a TA position if you list up to the maximum of 8 classes that you are confident you have the skills to TA.
  • A list of courses that *might* receive a TA position based on previous enrollment patterns can be found here. This is not a complete list and not all courses will be offered in Winter. Please compare this list to the Winter 2024 Time Schedule.
