A fantastic summer internship opportunity to interested undergraduate juniors in your departments. We accept students with a wide diversity of majors (biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, earth/atmospheric science, meteorology, engineering, math, computer science, etc). Application Deadline: January 31, 2024

The NASA Airborne Science Program invites highly motivated advanced undergraduates who will be rising seniors in the summer 2024 to apply for participation in the 16th annual NASA Student Airborne Research Program (SARP 2024). Students will work in multi-disciplinary teams to study surface, atmospheric, and oceanographic processes. Participants will fly onboard a NASA research aircraft and assist in the operation of instruments to sample and measure atmospheric gases and aerosols and to image land and water surfaces in multiple spectral bands. Along with airborne data collection, students will participate in taking measurements at field sites. Each student will complete an individual research project from the data collected.

Outstanding faculty and staff for this program will be drawn from several universities and NASA centers, as well as from NASA flight operations and engineering personnel.

There are two programs this year, and the dates for each eight-week program are:

  • June 16 – August 9, 2024
  • June 23 – August 16, 2024

SARP participants will receive a stipend, a travel allowance, and free housing and local transportation during the 8-week program.

Applicants must be US citizens.
