Dear Students,

We are looking for two graduate students to contribute as Research Assistants to a project focused on building energy efficiency, a key component of the nation’s clean energy agenda. Specifically, we are looking to develop effective solutions for sensing and controlling energy usage in large commercial buildings. These are paid RA positions, supervised by Prof. Baosen Zhang. One position (Software RA) will focus primarily on software and simulation of sensor/control devices. The other position (Hardware RA) will focus primarily on sensor hardware development, including enhancing an existing novel design for non-contact voltage sensing.

Ideal Candidate Characteristics (for both RA Positions):

  • Good knowledge of power systems
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate between engineers and software developers
  • Takes initiative and is driven to solve problems

Ideal Candidate Characteristics – Software RA:

  • Knowledge and experience in ML and AI, and fluent in Python
  •  Some hands-on experience with sensors is a plus

Ideal Candidate Characteristics – Hardware RA:

  • Knowledge and experience in analog circuit design and embedded system software development
  • Some hands-on experience with local networking protocols

If you are interested, please get in touch with me at zhangbao@uw.edu(Advising suggests stating interest and attaching Resume and Unofficial Transcript.)

Thanks,
Baosen
