Bios
Howard McKenzie is the chief engineer of The Boeing Company and executive vice president of Engineering, Test & Technology. He leads the Boeing Engineering function of more than 57,000 engineers worldwide and oversees the company’s technology vision, strategy and investment. His responsibilities also include oversight of all aspects of safety and technical integrity of Boeing products and services. His organization is an incubator for businesses that will define the future of urban, regional and global mobility, as well as those aimed at near-term opportunities. McKenzie is a member of the company’s Executive Council.
During his Boeing career, McKenzie has held a variety of roles that span the Boeing Enterprise, including vice president and chief engineer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, vice president and chief engineer of Boeing Global Services and vice president of Boeing Test and Evaluation. Previously, he served as vice president and chief project engineer for the 777 program, where he was responsible for product integrity and safety for the 777 worldwide fleet. McKenzie joined McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company, now part of Boeing, in 1987 as an engineering intern.
McKenzie is a 2019 recipient of the Black Engineer of the Year Award (BEYA) Science Spectrum Trailblazer Award and an active member of the BEYA STEM community. He also serves as the Boeing executive focal for the University of California, Berkeley.
Vishwa Uddanwadiker is chief Artificial Intelligence officer for Engineering, Test & Technology at Boeing. Named to this role in March 2024, he leads engineering productivity and innovation through the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). With a focus on applications, operations, platforms and standards, Uddanwadiker oversees AI research, inventions and engagement with regulators.
He previously was Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) chief engineer and Safety Experience vice president. Through his GenAI leadership, he managed an integrated product team training large language models with Boeing data. Uddanwadiker was also responsible for the development of the Safety Experience, an interactive platform that promotes Boeing’s safety culture and commitment to safety.
Before those assignments, he led the aerospace safety analytics team and brought a strong data foundation to Boeing’s Safety Management System by advancing modeling techniques to identify hazards and fleet risks through data. Uddanwadiker has held various engineering and technology roles over the last 15 years at Boeing. He served at Honeywell for six years prior.
In 2022, the Chinese Institute of Engineers-USA named Uddanwadiker the Executive Asian American Engineer of the Year. He is the Boeing executive sponsor for the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers. From 2014–2020, Uddanwadiker served as an advisor to the Master of Science in information systems program at the University of Washington Foster School of Business. Uddanwadiker earned an engineering degree with honors in computer science from Birla Institute of Technology & Science in Pilani, India, and a Master of Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
