May 2, 2024
DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MAY 28
The UW + Amazon Science Hub is seeking nominations from faculty for doctoral students who are pursuing research in robotics and adjacent areas in AI to apply to the UW + Amazon Science Hub Fellowship with priority consideration given to students in areas related to: Robotic Manipulation, Robotics AI and end-to-end learning, Computer Vision for Robotics, Autonomous Ground Mobility.
The fellowships will provide each selected doctoral graduate student with three quarters of funding to pursue independent research projects. In addition, the fellows will have an opportunity to apply for paid PhD Research Fellow internships at Amazon, gaining valuable industry insight and experience through direct engagement with Amazon researchers and business leaders. Awardees will be known as Amazon Fellows and join an international cohort of Amazon PhD Fellows from leading academic institutions.
Students must be in good standing and have exhibited outstanding academic performance to be eligible for a fellowship. Service and leadership experience is taken into consideration, namely in areas such as outreach and promotion of diversity in STEM. Additionally, students must be in the second, third, or fourth year of their PhD program when receiving the fellowship. First, second, or third year PhD students are eligible to apply. Application will include submission of a current CV, a one page personal statement, and a two page research proposal.
If you would like to nominate a PhD student for an Amazon Fellowship, please email the student’s name and email address to us at amazonscience@uw.edu. The Amazon Science Hub team will send nominated students application submission details. Both student applications and faculty letters of recommendation will be due May 28. We expect to make 3 to 4 awards.
