Summer/early fall scholarship application season is already underway! There are many scholarship programs, especially those funding graduate studies and international experiences, that have recently opened applications or are about to open. Check out these examples, along with our info sessions for UW students and alumni! More events will be added to the calendar in the weeks to come!

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE SCHOLARSHIP EXAMPLES

Fulbright US Student Program

Fulbright provides opportunities to research, study, and teach abroad for US citizen students and alumni. There is not much time left before the internal UW deadline, but it’s still possible to apply!   • UW application deadline: Aug. 28

Luce Scholars Program

Spend 12 months in Asia gaining professional experience related to your career goals. Specifically geared toward students/alumni with limited experience in Asia since starting college.

  • Deadline: October 1

Gilman Scholarship Program

If you receive a Pell Grant as part of your financial aid package and are planning to study abroad during your undergraduate years, plan to apply for this scholarship! There are two chances to apply each year, depending on when you’re planning to study abroad. Applications will open in mid-August with a deadline in October for applicants whose abroad programs or internships start between December 1, 2024, to October 31, 2025.

  • Deadline: October 10

 GRADUATE SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP EXAMPLES

 PickeringRangel and Payne Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellowships

Both the Pickering Fellowship and the Rangel Fellowship aim to attract and prepare outstanding individuals for careers as Foreign Service Officers in the U.S Department of State. The Payne Fellowship seeks to attract and prepare outstanding individuals who are interested in careers in the Foreign Service of the US Agency for International Development (USAID). Selected fellows for all three of these programs receive financial support for graduate school, internships, and professional development. These fellowships provide pathways to careers as Foreign Service Officers doing different types of work.

NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION GRADUATE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM (NSF GRFP)

Provides unique fellowships to support graduate studies and research in a variety of Social Sciences, Psychology, STEM and STEM education fields.

  • Deadlines in October

Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program at Stanford

Provides graduate school funding for students planning to apply for admission to any Stanford graduate degree program and who are working toward becoming visionary, courageous, and collaborative leaders who address complex challenges facing the world.

  • Deadline in October

Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans

Provides graduate school funding for students who emigrated to the US or whose parents emigrated to the US.

  • Deadline in October
