The Autumn 2026 ECE TA and Grader applications are now open. The priority deadline to apply is July 1st, 2026 by 5:00PM Pacific Standard Time.
You must use your UW Net ID to log in to the applications. Click on the links embedded below to access the applications. 
TA application: Please DO NOT APPLY if you do not meet TA eligibility criteria in policy 5.2 (this pertains to International students). You will be asked to very this information in the application. 
PhD students, if you are unsure about your funding, please submit an application. You can always withdraw your application later if alternative funding comes through.
Grader application: Grader positions do not include a tuition waiver and are paid hourly. PhD students should not apply for Grader positions due to the guaranteed funding model.
Additional Information:
  • PhD students with guaranteed funding are given first priority for TA positions. It may take up to a month to assign these positions. Please be patient.
  • Your resume should have a skills section (Java, Python, CUDA, OpenCL, GPU,  Verilog, etc). Include all duties related to teaching, mentoring, tutoring, project leadership, etc.

  • PMP Courses: These are the hardest to match, so if you list a PMP course and are a match, there is a higher likelihood of an offer. Below is a list of TENTATIVE Autumn PMP course with titles. As we do not yet know which courses will receive a TA if they are offered. I recommend listing all the courses in which you qualify.
    TA skills needed are next to the title, if available 
  • EE (P) 572: Microwave Engineering (good knowledge of TL, microwave and electromagnetics,  experience with Ansys ED software (very important), experience with microwave measurement techniques and instruments (NWA, TDR) )
  • EE P 500C: Intellectual Property for Engineers
  • EE P 502:  Analytical Methods (Good working knowledge of programming with Pythod, solid math skills, so TA can follow along on some of the proofs that students may be asked to submit.)
  • EE P 524: Applied High Performance GPU Computing (CUDA and/or OpenCL kernel programming for GPUs; computer microarchitecture, particularly for multi-core or many-core/GPU systems, memory subsystem (cache, multi-banked, interconnects), ISA/assembly language; parallel software development with C/C++.)
  • EE P 535: Digital System Design FPGA
  • EE P 545: AI Mobile Robots
  • EE P 568: Deep Learning Visual Data (familiar with deep learning theories and installation of different models, use of GPU in Google CoLab, as well as familiar with image/video data manipulations.)
  • EE P 590A:  Data Structures and Aglorithms for ECE Applications (Experience in Python; setting up Python environments, use of git for source control)
  • EE P 595 A/B: Computer Systems Security
  • EE P 596 A/B: Computer Vision: Deep and Classical Methods (Python, PyTorch, machine learning, signal processing, image processing, computer vision, git)
  • EE P 596 C/D: Foundations of Deep Learning
  • EE P 598A: Medical Devices and Digital Transformation
  • Click here to see a list of classes that may receive a TA and the approximate number of TAs (must use your UW NetID). This is based on historical enrollment patterns, so the approximate number of TAs may differ quarter to quarter. The list of classes is not exhaustive nor has every new class;  compare with the Autumn 2026 Time Schedule.
  • We will NOT manage assignments for the following classes so please do not list them:
    • EE 474 (joint with CSE) – CSE is managing TAs 
    • EE 475 (joint with CSE) – CSE is managing TAs
  • You must be available, in person to attend lecture (if necessary) and to run 1-2 lab or quiz sections of the courses you list on the application. CHECK YOUR CLASS SCHEDULE AGAINST THE LECTURE AND LAB AND QUIZ SECTIONS BEFORE listing them on the application. If you are assigned a class that conflicts with your course schedule you must immediately notify Stephanie Swanson (stepswan@uw.edu) before you accept the offer.

  • A final reminder: even if a professor recommends you, there is no guarantee of receiving a TA or grader position. Masters and Undergraduate students should not expect to rely on a recommendation and explore other funding options. To broaden opportunities, Masters and Undergrad students should reach out to other departments where they have relevant skills and knowledge.
