  • The Mary Gates Endowment for Students expands opportunities for undergraduates by providing Leadership and Research Scholarships. Scholarships are open to all undergraduates in all majors at all three campuses. Students can earn up to $5,000 over two quarters to engage in meaningful, mentored leadership and research projects.

Scholarship Opportunities

The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship (Gilman) Program provides scholarships of up to $5,000 with additional supplemental funding available for students studying a critical language and/or conducting STEM-related research while overseas. To be eligible for the Gilman Program, applicants must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant during the time of application or provide proof that they will be receiving a Pell Grant during the term of their study abroad program or internship.
Knight-Hennessy Scholars Program | Deadline: October 6
Knight-Hennessy Scholars is a multidisciplinary, multicultural graduate scholarship program. Each Knight-Hennessy scholar receives up to three years of financial support to pursue graduate studies at Stanford.
National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP) | Deadline: between October 19-October 23 (depending on field)
NSF GRFP funds 3 years of graduate study in the US, which includes a $37,000 annual stipend and full cost of tuition/fees for students in research-based master’s or doctoral programs. Must be U.S. citizen, national or permanent resident. 
The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans provides merit-based funding for graduate school to immigrants and children of immigrants. Each year, the program selects 30 fellows for their potential to make significant contributions to the US. The fellowship offers financial support, mentorship, and a lifelong community. The fellowship offers up to $90,000 in financial support, including an annual stipend and tuition assistance, for one to two years.
Princeton in Asia Fellowships | Deadline: November 1
Princeton in Asia (PiA) offers immersive, paid work fellowships and internships for recent college graduates to live and work in various Asian countries, aiming to foster cross-cultural understanding and mutual appreciation between the U.S. and Asia. PiA Fellows develop skills and contribute to the work of host organizations in diverse focus areas, from Arts & Culture, Environmental Sustainability, Public Health, STEM, and more. 
 
The Goldwater Summer Research Internship is a 10-week research opportunity for college freshmen and sophomores. Interns will gain hands-on experience in Chemistry, CISE, Engineering, Life Sciences, or Physics and Astronomy at academic and national laboratories across the United States. Each intern will receive $10,500 to cover the internship and internship-related expenses. Students should review the meal and housing costs listed for each site and budget accordingly and should also budget for transportation to and from the internship location. Internship eligibility requires U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Status.
 
The Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) Junior Summer Institute (JSI) is a fully funded, rigorous seven-week summer fellowship designed to prepare undergraduate juniors for graduate school and careers in public service. JSI Summer Institute participants will choose to do the program at one of three universities: Harvard University, Princeton University, and University of Michigan. 
Graduate and undergraduate students at North American colleges and universities or American students studying abroad are invited to apply for Overseas Press Club Foundation Scholar Awards. An applicant must be a college junior, senior or graduate student enrolled in a degree program at the application deadline and have demonstrated an interest in international journalism. Winners receive either a $3,000 scholarship for independent work or a $4,000 fellowship to be used to fund time in a bureau of a leading news organization.
Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship | UW Campus Deadline for Nomination: November 19
Application will open soon!
The Goldwater Scholarship is specifically for sophomores or juniors engaged in research, and who intend to pursue research careers in math, the natural sciences, and engineering. US citizenship or permanent residency is required. Maximum award: $7,500 per year.
Peace Corps Volunteer Positions | Deadline: between November 2026 through January 2027
Various positions in agriculture, community economic development, education, environment, health, and youth development in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Pacific Islands, and South America.
The Lafayette Fellowship | Deadline: December 1
The Lafayette Fellowship is a fully funded graduate scholarship for American students to pursue master ‘s-level studies in France. The fellowship was created by the French Embassy in the U.S. to celebrate 250 years of French-American friendship and aims to foster a new generation of transatlantic leaders. Supports up to 30 American students interested in addressing global challenges within a French-American context. There is no French language requirement for the Fellowship (unless your academic program is taught partially or entirely in French).
CMU Rales Fellows Program | Priority Deadline: December 15
The CMU Rales Fellows Program at Carnegie Mellon University provides full tuition and living stipends for exceptional domestic graduate students pursuing eligible STEM master’s and Ph.D. degrees on the Pittsburgh campus.

Spring 2027 NASA Pathways Internship | Application opens September 21 and closes September 25
The NASA Pathways Internship Program is a multi-semester federal co-op program that provides students and recent graduates with paid work experience and a direct pipeline to full-time civil service employment at NASA. 
The Moth Story Lab | Deadline: October 5
The Moth (Virtual) StoryLab is a free, 6‑week, out-of-school workshop that provides the space, tools, and expertise for college students to practice the art and craft of personal storytelling with students from across college campuses. Open to undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students. 
UW Seattle 2026 Fall Job & Internship Fair | October 7 from 11am-2:30 pm 
In-person: Husky Union Building (HUB), 2nd Floor Ballrooms

  • Fair is open to all students and alumni of all three campuses
  • Registration is encouraged but not required (UWT students won’t be able to register ahead of time but are welcome!)
The CSF is seeking to fill seats for the ESC/UW Sustainability and ASUW appointments — these will be member seats for a two-year term length. Each member is expected to work 20-25 hours of professional service per quarter (Fall, Winter, and Spring). Work is compensated at the rate of $505 per quarter ($1,515 per year).
