Korean Language Teaching Assistant (TA) Alternate Pool
The Department of Asian Languages and Literature is searching for applicants to join the alternate pool for Korean language Teaching Assistants in 2026-2027, in case any current teaching assistants leave their positions or new positions become available. Alternates are not guaranteed a position but will be notified if they qualify for alternate status. This search is for academic year 2026-2027 only. Students who applied for a Korean TA position earlier this year may re-apply.
General Duties/Description
Job duties include, but are not limited to, teaching Korean language classes in Korean, preparing and grading tests, homework, and assignments, maintaining student records, participating in TA meetings, attending course lectures, and collaborating with the supervisor and other TAs.
Eligibility and Requirements
Only graduate students accepted by or enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences or the College of Education at the University of Washington are eligible to apply. Undergraduate students are not eligible. Previous teaching experience is a plus. Strong Korean language skills are required. TA positions require strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
If you are not a student in the Department of Asian Languages and Literature, it is important to ensure that the responsibilities of this position do not conflict with the academic requirements of your graduate program. Applicants should confirm that they can teach and attend lectures, usually in the morning Monday through Friday (1-2 hours daily), in addition to class preparation, office hours, grading, and other responsibilities, for up to an average of 20 hours per week.
By the time of appointment, non-native English-speaking applicants must satisfy the English speaking proficiency requirements outlined in Graduate School Policy 5.2:

- CV or résumé
- Unofficial transcript(s) (UW transcripts should be downloaded as a PDF from MyUW)
