A co-curricular program within the College of Engineering, WE Rise (formerly WiSE) has supported and empowered generations of women/womxn pursuing engineering degrees. Founded by Dr. Suzanne Brainard (1945-2026), the Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) program hosted its first Graduate Student Brown Bag Lunch, creating a space for connection, mentorship, and support among our women/womxn in engineering over 38 years ago. Today, WE Rise proudly continues Dr. Brainard’s legacy by fostering a welcoming and inclusive community that encourages students to thrive academically, professionally, and personally throughout their engineering journey. WE Rise programs and events are open to students at all levels, as well as allies across the gender spectrum who support our mission of building a stronger and more inclusive engineering community.
Please feel free to share these opportunities with students who may be interested. Students can participate by registering and attending events as desired. Learn more at https://www.engr.washington.edu/search/content?keys=WE+Rise.
